Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has said anyone found responsible for mismanagement at the state-owned pilgrimage fund Tabung Haji (TH) must be held accountable, stressing there should be no compromise on wrongdoing.

Commenting on the ongoing scrutiny surrounding TH, Zahid said individuals implicated in any form of misconduct or mismanagement within government agencies and statutory bodies should face the consequences if investigations establish their involvement.

“They must face the consequences, and I do not believe we should compromise when it comes to such wrongdoing,” Zahid told reporters after the Rural and Regional Development Ministry’s monthly gathering on Thursday.

His remarks came amid heightened attention over issues involving Tabung Haji, Malaysia’s Islamic pilgrimage fund, as authorities continue examining alleged irregularities linked to its management.

Zahid, who is also president of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), said accountability and transparency are essential in safeguarding public trust in government institutions, particularly those entrusted with managing public funds.
