Malaysia and Pakistan have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, with discussions focusing on security cooperation and collaboration on prisoner transfer arrangements.
The meeting took place Tuesday at Malaysia’s Parliament building in Kuala Lumpur, where Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Malaysia, Syed Ahsan Raza Shah, paid a courtesy call on Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
Both sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation in security-related sectors under Malaysia’s Home Ministry. Senior officials from Malaysia’s security and prison authorities were also present.
A key topic of discussion was the International Transfer of Prisoners (ITOP) initiative, aimed at establishing a more effective framework to facilitate prisoner transfers based on the laws and mutual interests of both countries.
Malaysia also expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting dialogue and peaceful solutions to reduce tensions in West Asia.
Officials described the meeting as cordial and productive, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to expanding strategic cooperation and strengthening relations for the benefit of both nations.
