Malaysia has called for stronger international cooperation to combat terrorism and violent extremism, stressing that multilateral action, coordinated strategies and broad community participation are essential to ensuring global security.
The message was delivered during the Fourth United Nations High-Level Conference on Counter-Terrorism held at U.N. headquarters in New York.
Malaysia’s official statement before the U.N. General Assembly was presented by Abdul Halim Abdul Rahman, Deputy Undersecretary for Security at the Ministry of Home Affairs. He said Malaysia remains committed to multilateral cooperation in addressing terrorism and violent extremism and continues to align its national security strategies with the broader global security framework.
In his address, Abdul Halim underscored that international cooperation, justice, peace and sustainable development are key pillars in the fight against terrorism.
Malaysia also participated as an expert panelist in a conference session, where its representatives shared the country’s experience in preventing violent extremism through youth empowerment, stronger community partnerships and social reintegration programs.
Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said robust international cooperation, coordinated efforts and the participation of all sectors of society are essential to effectively counter terrorism and achieve lasting peace.
Malaysia’s Ministry of Home Affairs said the country’s active participation in the conference reflects the international community’s confidence in its ability to implement inclusive and sustainable counterterrorism strategies, while further strengthening Malaysia’s role as a strategic partner in addressing global security challenges.
