UMNO President Ahmad Zahid Hamidi on Tuesday expressed profound grief over the death of his media officer, Jailani Harun, describing it as a great loss to the party and Malaysia’s media fraternity.

In a heartfelt tribute, Ahmad Zahid said he had visited Jailani at Hospital Serdang earlier in the day and had remained hopeful for his recovery despite his critical condition.

“My heart was filled with pain seeing his condition. I was still hoping for a miracle, but Allah SWT loves him more,” he said.

The deputy prime minister described the late Jailani as a humble, dedicated and compassionate individual who earned the respect and affection of colleagues, friends and all who knew him through his professionalism and unwavering commitment to duty.

Ahmad Zahid also extended his condolences to the bereaved family, praying that they be granted strength, patience and fortitude during this difficult time.

He called on Muslims to pray for the deceased, asking Allah SWT to forgive his sins, bless him with mercy, widen his grave and grant him a place among the righteous in Jannah.

“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. O Allah, forgive him, have mercy on him, pardon him and grant him the highest place in Jannah,” he prayed.

The passing of Jailani is regarded as a significant loss to UMNO and the Malaysian media community, where he was widely respected for his professionalism, humility and dedicated service.
