The Institute of Public Security of Malaysia (IPSOM), under the Ministry of Home Affairs, is strengthening the role of strategic research as a foundation for developing more effective, responsive and evidence-based national security policies and strategies.
The institute highlighted the importance of strategic research during an interview with Bernama TV’s Apa Khabar Malaysia programme on Tuesday morning.
The discussion focused on the significance of evidence-based policymaking, the development of security indices and the role of collaboration between IPSOM and higher education institutions in addressing increasingly complex security challenges.
The session featured SAC Dr Shazrin Azlin Ruslan, Deputy Executive Director of the Centre for Security Research and Publications at IPSOM, and Prof Dr Yarina Ahmad, Head Researcher at the Institute of Leadership and Development, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).
The speakers underscored the need for research-driven approaches and stronger institutional collaboration to ensure that national security policies remain relevant and responsive to emerging challenges.
