Malaysia’s public transport network is set to take a major step forward with the completion of the Light Rail Transit 3 (LRT3) Shah Alam Line, which is now ready for operations.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to officially inaugurate the new rail line on Saturday, marking a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to enhance urban connectivity.

The development was confirmed by Mohd Arifin Idris, head of the Shah Alam Line, who said the 37.8-kilometre route stretches from Bandar Utama to Johan Setia and is expected to directly benefit nearly two million residents.

During the inauguration ceremony, Prime Minister Anwar is also expected to announce the official date and time for the commencement of passenger services on the new line.

The LRT3 Shah Alam Line comprises 20 newly built stations, including Bandar Utama, Kayu Ara, Damansara Idaman, Subang, Glenmarie, Stadium Shah Alam, Dato Menteri, UiTM Shah Alam, Section 7 Shah Alam, Bandar Baru Klang, Klang Market, Jalan Meru, Jambatan Kota, Taman Selatan, Seri Andalas, Klang Jaya, Bandar Bukit Tinggi and Johan Setia.

Officials said the new rail corridor will significantly improve connectivity across Kuala Lumpur and Selangor while easing traffic congestion by encouraging greater use of public transportation.
