Saudi Arabia and Bahrain have reaffirmed their commitment to regional peace and stability as their foreign ministers met in Riyadh to discuss the ongoing US-Iran negotiations, maritime security and broader developments in the Gulf.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan held talks with his Bahraini counterpart, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, on Sunday, reviewing the progress of negotiations between the United States and Iran and efforts by Gulf countries to strengthen regional security and stability.

The two ministers stressed the importance of safeguarding freedom of maritime navigation in the Arabian Gulf, saying secure shipping lanes are vital for both regional and global economic stability.

They also exchanged views on a range of regional and international issues of mutual interest, reaffirming the longstanding strategic partnership between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain and their commitment to expanding cooperation on matters affecting Gulf security.

The meeting comes amid renewed diplomatic efforts to revive dialogue between Washington and Tehran following months of heightened tensions in the region.

According to Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the next round of negotiations between US and Iranian officials is expected to take place after the July 9 funeral ceremonies for Iran’s late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The Riyadh talks underscored continued coordination between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain on key regional developments, with both countries expressing support for diplomatic initiatives aimed at easing tensions while preserving peace, security and stability across the Middle East.
