Members of the public waved the Jalur Gemilang, Malaysia’s national flag, as they joined the countdown to Independence Day during the RIUH Merdeka celebration held here tonight.

The event, organised as part of the Ambang Merdeka festivities, brought together Malaysians to mark the moments leading up to the country’s National Day celebrations on Aug 31.

A variety of arts, cultural performances, music and local cuisine were featured at the event, adding to the patriotic spirit and festive atmosphere ahead of National Day 2026.
