The Malaysian government has yet to decide whether to seek the extradition of a co-pilot detained in Indonesia in connection with a drug-smuggling case, Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said.

He said the fate of the Malaysian co-pilot would be determined in accordance with Indonesian law, as the case involves alleged drug trafficking in Indonesia.

The minister said the Malaysian authorities were closely monitoring developments in the case and would take the necessary steps based on the outcome of investigations and the legal process.

The co-pilot was reportedly detained in Jakarta after being allegedly found carrying 25 kilogrammes of drugs.

Malaysian police are also conducting their own investigation, with questioning of the co-pilot still ongoing. Authorities have yet to make a final finding in the case.

Saifuddin said any decision concerning the co-pilot’s return to Malaysia would be made after considering the legal and investigative processes in both countries.
