Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the country will not compromise on its principles despite growing global power politics, reaffirming Kuala Lumpur’s commitment to justice, peace and an independent foreign policy.

In a social media post, Anwar said the international order is increasingly being shaped by power and dominance rather than truth and justice, with international law often applied selectively. He stressed that Malaysia would continue to uphold its principled positions regardless of changing geopolitical realities.

He said Malaysia would remain a strong advocate for peace, justice and the rights of oppressed people, while maintaining an independent and balanced foreign policy without aligning itself with any major power bloc.

Anwar also described the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as one of the most effective platforms for dialogue and cooperation in an increasingly divided world, saying the regional bloc’s role in promoting peace and stability is becoming more important.

The prime minister also criticized Norway over its decision to revoke an export license for Naval Strike Missiles (NSM) intended for Malaysia, saying such treatment was inappropriate for a strategic partner.

Anwar said U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio had assured him that Washington had no involvement in Norway’s decision.

He added that Malaysia would continue strengthening ties with its existing partners while expanding cooperation with countries across the Global South.
