Malaysia has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening cooperation with the United Nations after Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan held talks with the UN Resident Coordinator for Malaysia, Nikolas Myint, at Wisma Putra.

The meeting, described as a courtesy call, focused on enhancing collaboration between Malaysia and the UN, with both sides exchanging views on areas of mutual interest and the role of multilateral cooperation in addressing global challenges.

In a statement shared on social media, Mohamad said Malaysia values the United Nations’ contribution to tackling global issues and will continue working closely with the UN Resident Coordinator and UN agencies operating in the country.

He said the cooperation would support Malaysia’s national development priorities while contributing to broader global well-being through stronger partnerships with the UN system.

Nikolas Myint assumed office as the UN Resident Coordinator for Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei following his appointment by UN Secretary-General António Guterres on May 31, 2026.
