Malaysia’s Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail on Thursday chaired two key discussions focusing on the future direction of the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (SOSMA) and issues concerning refugees.

The discussions sought to comprehensively assess both matters in light of current developments, challenges faced on the ground and the approaches needed to ensure that government measures remain relevant and effective.

The Home Ministry said the discussions were important to ensure that any measures formulated not only address immediate needs but are also practical, based on comprehensive considerations and aligned with prevailing circumstances.

The ministry did not provide further details on specific decisions or policy changes arising from the discussions.
