The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has launched an investigation into the reported 200 million ringgit investment loss suffered by the Retirement Fund (Incorporated) (KWAP) in Indonesian aquaculture technology company E-Fishery.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the MACC said a special investigation team from its headquarters was formed on July 17 to conduct a comprehensive probe into the matter.

The commission said the investigation was initiated following media reports on the investment loss and would be carried out in accordance with the law.

It assured that the probe would be conducted fairly, transparently and impartially to ensure accountability and maintain public confidence in the investigation process.

The MACC also urged the public to refrain from speculation or making unfounded allegations, warning that such actions could create confusion and undermine the integrity of the ongoing investigation.

The statement was issued by MACC Chief Commissioner Abd Halim Aman.
