The Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur observed ‘July Mass Uprising Day’ on Wednesday with due solemnity, while officials facing allegations of opposing the July uprising remain in their posts, prompting questions and discussions among a section of expatriate Bangladeshis.

Expatriate Bangladeshis, representatives of various political, social and cultural organisations, journalists, community leaders, and officials and employees of the High Commission attended the programme organised to mark the day.

High Commissioner Manzurul Karim Khan Chowdhury paid deep tribute to the martyrs of the July mass uprising and called for upholding national unity, democracy and humanitarian values.

Speakers at the programme also recalled the sacrifices of those killed during the July 2024 movement and stressed the need to further strengthen national unity in the interest of the country.

The programme concluded with a special doa and munajat seeking eternal peace for the souls of the martyrs of the July mass uprising, speedy recovery of those injured, and peace, prosperity and development of Bangladesh.
