Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has reaffirmed his commitment to pursuing change and reform in Malaysia, drawing inspiration from the leadership and governance model of Prophet Muhammad SAW.

In a Maulidur Rasul message posted on Facebook yesterday, Anwar said building a pluralistic nation in 21st-century Southeast Asia was challenging given its political complexities, but he would continue striving to do his best for Malaysia.

He said ensuring basic necessities for the people and achieving tangible peace were essential, in line with the principles of Maqasid Shariah.

“Basic needs must be guaranteed, and tangible peace is of the utmost importance,” he said.

Reflecting on the Prophet’s establishment of a new administration in Medina more than 14 centuries ago, Anwar said the city developed into a just and compassionate society where the poor were assisted, the weak protected and differences respected.

He said monopolistic practices were rejected in favour of a more equitable distribution of economic opportunities, while diplomatic efforts were pursued to build a more peaceful and just order.

Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said the Prophet’s leadership had transformed a society divided by deep tribal conflicts into one united by the spirit of the Ansar, fostering stability and social progress.

He said he aspired for the best for all Malaysians and prayed for continued blessings, love and prosperity for the country and its people.

Anwar also cited a verse from Surah Quraysh highlighting the blessings of being provided with food against hunger and security from fear.
