Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is set to announce several important government initiatives in his National Day address on Sunday, with the measures expected to focus on improving the wellbeing and financial security of Malaysians.

Anwar is scheduled to deliver the address on Aug 30, the eve of Malaysia’s 69th National Day, as the government seeks to highlight its reform agenda and initiatives under the MADANI framework.

The prime minister is expected to outline measures aimed at strengthening social protection and supporting Malaysians amid continuing concerns over living costs and economic pressures.

The announcements will form part of a broader effort by the Anwar administration to ensure that government policies translate into tangible benefits for the people.

Anwar had earlier indicated that several significant announcements would be made around National Day and Malaysia Day, with another major announcement expected on Sept 16.

The National Day address, originally planned at Dataran Merdeka, has also been moved indoors to the Putrajaya International Convention Centre due to prevailing haze conditions.

The Communications Ministry said the relocation was intended to ensure the safety and comfort of guests and the public without affecting the spirit of the celebrations.
