Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has called on the public to pray for prominent Gambian Islamic scholar Sheikh Muhammad Haidara Al-Jilani following a meeting with him and participation in one of his religious gatherings.
In a Facebook post on Friday, Anwar said Sheikh Haidara Al-Jilani had spent nearly a month in Malaysia, leading prayers and delivering religious lectures at various venues across the country. He described the visit as the scholar’s farewell tour.
Marking the holy Friday and the occasion of Ashura, Anwar prayed for the Sheikh’s well-being and urged Malaysians to seek Allah’s mercy, blessings and protection for the people and the nation.
He also expressed hope for Malaysia’s continued peace, stability and progress.
