An abandoned shop house in Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur (KL) was completely destroyed after a fire broke out early Thursday morning in the Jinjang Selatan area, though no casualties were reported.

According to the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department, the fire erupted near One Stop Home Design along Jalan Kepong at around 6:28 am, prompting an emergency response after authorities received a distress call through the hotline.

Firefighters from the Jinjang Fire and Rescue Station and Sentul Fire and Rescue Station were immediately dispatched to the scene with two Fire Rescue Tenders and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services vehicle, involving a total of 15 personnel.

Operations Commander Nor Azmi Rahmat said firefighters found the abandoned structure, measuring around 30 by 30 square feet, fully engulfed in flames upon arrival.

The building was completely destroyed in the blaze, sustaining 100 percent damage.

Firefighters launched an aggressive operation from both the front and rear of the building, using multiple hose lines and nozzles to contain the fire.

The blaze was brought under control by 6:50 am, with no injuries or fatalities reported.

Authorities said the cause of the fire and the extent of financial losses are currently under investigation.
