Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has stressed the need to preserve the spirit of cooperation and political stability to ensure the country’s continued progress and development.

He also urged Malaysians to give the current administration the opportunity to continue serving the people, with improving their welfare remaining a key priority.

“Give us the chance to continue serving. We have a stable government and we have many things we intend to continue, with the priority being to uplift the rakyat,” Anwar said while officiating the state-level Sahabat Usahawan Madani carnival in Port Dickson on Friday.

Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said cooperation between the federal and state governments was crucial for effective governance and development.

He called for due consideration to be given to the Negri Sembilan administration, saying better coordination with the federal government would facilitate cooperation.

“It is easy for us to discuss as we are friends. We can sit together and negotiate or even argue, but at the end of the day we are allies,” he said.

Anwar also pledged continued support for Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia, saying he would ensure the organisation received special attention in annual budgets as long as he remained responsible for leading the country.

He stressed that the welfare of small businesses should not be overlooked, particularly those struggling to make their voices heard and access government support.

The Prime Minister also urged Malaysians to assess political leaders based on their performance and delivery rather than promises made during election campaigns.

“Choose leaders that walk the talk instead of only making promises,” he said.
