The Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) is strengthening its focus on artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance leadership capabilities, decision-making and operational readiness amid rapid technological advances in the defence sector.

Chief of Defence Force General Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Haji Malek Razak bin Sulaiman said this as he officiated the Malaysian Armed Forces Artificial Intelligence (AI) Leadership Seminar 2026 at Dewan Perkasa, Wisma Perwira ATM, on Wednesday.

Chief of Navy Admiral Tan Sri (Dr.) Zulhelmy bin Ithnain and around 300 senior officers from across the ATM attended the seminar, jointly organised by the ATM Headquarters and the National Institute of Public Administration (INTAN).

The seminar, based on the AI Leadership Programme for Public Sector Governance, explored the latest developments in AI and sought to deepen participants’ understanding of its potential and practical applications in the defence sector.

The initiative is designed to equip ATM leaders to navigate the challenges of the digital era by adopting AI technologies capable of improving decision-making, operational efficiency and organisational governance.

The ATM said the seminar reflects its continued commitment to developing forward-looking leaders capable of adapting to emerging technologies and strengthening national defence preparedness in an increasingly complex and dynamic security environment.
