The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening strategic cooperation to enhance governance, integrity and anti-corruption efforts.

MACC Chief Commissioner Abd Halim Aman said close collaboration between the anti-graft agency and the national energy company is crucial to reinforcing transparent governance and fostering a strong culture of integrity across the corporate sector.

He made the remarks during a courtesy call by Petronas President and Group Chief Executive Officer Tengku Muhammad Taufik Tengku Kamadjaja Aziz at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya on Thursday.

During the meeting, both sides discussed initiatives to strengthen integrity and anti-corruption awareness among Petronas employees, while also exchanging views on improving internal control mechanisms to minimise the risk of misconduct and enhance corporate governance.

Tengku Muhammad Taufik reaffirmed Petronas’ commitment to promoting a “speak-up” culture that encourages employees to report misconduct and corruption, in line with the company’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of corporate governance.

Also present at the meeting were MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Operations) Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya, Petronas Senior Vice President of Group Legal and Group General Counsel Razman Hashim, and Head of the Petronas Integrity Unit Mohamad Faizal Sadri.
