Two men were injured after a collision involving two 3-ton tow trucks and a Perodua Myvi inside the Jalan Loke Yew Tunnel leading towards Kuala Lumpur city centre early Thursday.

The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) said it received an emergency call through the NG999 hotline at 4:08 am and immediately deployed firefighters from the Jalan Hang Tuah and Pudu fire stations.

A total of 16 firefighters, assisted by two Fire Rescue Tenders (FRT) and three Rapid Intervention Motorcycle (RIM) units, were dispatched to the scene.

Operation Commander PBK I Mohd Fahbell Mohd Yasin said two men, both in their 30s, were trapped inside one of the vehicles. Firefighters rescued them at 4:39 am using special extrication equipment.

One victim suffered a leg injury, while the other sustained a head injury and a fractured leg. Both remained conscious and were handed over to ambulance personnel for treatment.
The rescue operation concluded at 5:42 am.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
