Selangor Police have dismantled four drug trafficking syndicates and seized 116.2kg of cannabis flowers worth 13.34 ringgit million in operations at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Sepang between June 29 and July 4.

Five suspects, two foreign men, one Malaysian man and two Malaysian women aged 25 to 40, were arrested during the operations conducted by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division of the KLIA District Police Headquarters with the assistance of Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) Auxiliary Police, Selangor Police Chief Shazeli Kahar said.

The seizures included 33.6kg of cannabis worth 2.7 million ringgit from a Southeast Asian national at KLIA, 21.1kg worth 1.7 million ringgit from a Malaysian man who tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine, and 76kg worth 6.1 million ringgit from a Malaysian couple in Kota Warisan, where police also seized a Perodua Alza believed to have been used in drug trafficking.

On July 4, police seized another 35.5kg of cannabis worth 2.84 million ringgit from two suitcases at KLIA and arrested a European national.

The three Malaysian suspects had previous criminal and drug-related records, while the two foreign suspects had no criminal records in Malaysia. All five have been remanded, and the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
