Immigration Department of Malaysia has said there is no immediate need for Malaysians to replace their international passports, assuring that existing passports will remain valid until their expiry date.
In a statement, the department said holders of the Malaysian International Passport (PMA) can continue using their current passports until the validity period expires, dismissing any urgency over immediate replacement.
It noted that most countries require travellers to have passports with at least six months of validity from the date of travel. In this regard, citizens have been advised to check their passport expiry dates before applying for a new one.
The department also urged travellers to verify passport validity ahead of making travel plans and, if necessary, complete renewal procedures early to avoid inconvenience during international trips.
According to the department, efforts are continuing to make passport-related services more efficient, secure and user-friendly for the public.
