Malaysian police have seized 171.6 kilograms of suspected marijuana and arrested four people in three separate anti-drug operations carried out between June 17 and June 22.

Selangor police chief Commissioner Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the seized drugs were worth an estimated 13.73 million ringgit.

The first operation took place on June 17 at Terminal One of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), where officers intercepted two suspicious bags and arrested a foreign man in his 30s. Police recovered 29.6 kilograms of suspected marijuana.

On June 18, police conducted raids in Sepang and Nilai, arresting two men outside a hotel in Bandar Baru Enstek, Negeri Sembilan. Officers seized 36 kilograms of suspected marijuana and later recovered another 72 kilograms during a follow-up raid at a house in Banting, Selangor.

In the third operation on June 22, authorities arrested a European national at KLIA after detecting suspicious packages inside two pieces of luggage. Police seized another 34 kilograms of suspected marijuana.

Police said tighter surveillance and inspections at KLIA have strengthened efforts to stop drug trafficking.

Authorities added that from January to June this year, a total of 653.6 kilograms of marijuana was seized at KLIA, with 38 people arrested and 28 already charged in court.
