Malaysia has appointed two seasoned diplomats to lead its missions at the United Nations, as the government moves to strengthen its multilateral engagement on the world stage.

Foreign Minister Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan formally handed over the letters of appointment to the newly designated envoys on Sunday.

Nadzirah Osman has been appointed Malaysia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, while Zanaria Zainol Abidin will serve as Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva, Switzerland.

Nadzirah previously held the Geneva post, bringing direct continuity and institutional knowledge to her new role in New York.

Zanaria, meanwhile, served as Director-General of the ASEAN-Malaysia National Secretariat under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Malaysia’s foreign ministry said the two diplomats, with their extensive backgrounds in multilateral diplomacy and international affairs, are well-positioned to advance the country’s interests and deepen its engagement across UN platforms.

The government said the appointments reflect its commitment to strengthening Malaysia’s standing in international forums through experienced and capable leadership in both key UN hubs.
